About the Role
A well-respected family law firm in Del Mar is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Family Law Paralegal to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment and takes pride in strong organizational and case management skills. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and highly skilled in calendaring, deadlines, and maintaining clean, orderly files.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, file, and serve pleadings, motions, disclosures, discovery, and trial documents.
- Maintain comprehensive case files and ensure deadlines are accurately tracked and met.
- Manage attorney calendars, hearings, appointments, and court reminders with precision.
- Assist with discovery preparation, document organization, indexing, and production.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff.
- Draft correspondence, declarations, and standard family law forms (FL forms).
- Support attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibit binders and timelines.
- Perform legal research and fact-gathering as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience specifically in family law.
- Strong knowledge of California family law procedures and local court rules.
- Exceptional calendaring skills and mastery of case-management systems.
- Proficient in MS Office and family-law software (e.g., MyCase, Clio, SupportCalc, DissoMaster).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Experience working directly with clients on sensitive family matters.
- Prior experience in a small, boutique, or high-conflict family law practice.
